The National Fire Target The National Fire Target
The target for deliberate fires was set out in the PSA White Paper published in July 2004 and is now included in the Department for Communities and Local Government's PSA 3: "To achieve a 10% reduction in deliberate fires by 31st March 2010 to 94,000 from the 2001/2 baseline of 104,500". It takes effect from 1st April 2005. Progress against this target will continue to be monitored through the fire statistics based on local authority FRS reports. In addition, the Arson Control Forum has commissioned research which evaluates the effectiveness of existing arson reduction projects.
