Your strategy document should include these broad headings:

Introduction

Use the 'Introduction' section to:

  • make people aware of your partnership mission statement or vision 

  • describe the purpose of the strategy and how it is linked to the audit process

  • describe any relevant partnership structures 

  • describe links to the plans other partnerships in your area

  • give a brief overview of the structure of the strategy 

You should also consider:

  • the needs of the audience for the document

  • including acknowledgements

  • including a contents list

  • providing contact details

Summary of audit findings and development of priorities

    • issues affecting homogenous groups

    • socio-economic issues

    • cross-cutting themes

  • describe the process of identifying and refining the broad priority areas through:

    • the audit process

    • the consultation exercise

    • what account has been taken of nationally defined targets and priorities

    • what links have been made to the priorities and targets of partners

Performance management of priority areas

    • an aim

    • a clear and meaningful objective related to an aim 

    • SMART objectives

    • appropriate timescales

    • appropriate performance measures to enable effective monitoring
