Crimes against Manufacturers

Crime against Vehicle and Transport Industry

Thefts of vehicles, particularly, heavy goods vehicles can have an enormous impact on the profitability of businesses.  The Joint Action Group on Lorry Theft (JAGOLT) has published two leaflets to advise commercial vehicle operators and their drivers how to avoid truck theft.  More information on tackling commercial vehicle crime can be found by clicking on some of the links below.

Crimes on Licensed Premises/the night time economy

Crime, violence and antisocial behaviour often take place on licensed premises, such as bars, pubs and nightclubs. The Government’s is taking a range of action to tackle violent crime and alcohol-related violence. Below are some useful links.

Crimes against the Oil and petrol Industry

The oil industry, the police and retailers have joined forces to tackle petrol forecourt offences, including 'making off without payment (MOWP). The British Oil Security Syndicate (BOSS) formed in 1991 by the oil industry together with the Petrol Retailers Association, Home Office Crime Reduction Centre and the Association of Chief Police Officers aims to reduce the amount of crime taking place on Britain's petrol forecourts.  Their 'Forecourt Watch' scheme (Bedford example provided via link) provides an early warning system to retailers about crimes being committed on forecourts, as well as providing details of suspects and their vehicles. Crimes against Rural Businesses

Businesses in rural areas fall victim to the same types of crime and disorder as those elsewhere and suffer a range of specific problems such as the countryside, such as thefts of livestock and farm equipment, wildlife crime and mass trespass and also arson. Those experiencing crime in rural areas might include industries such as the agriculture, forestry and fishing, mining and quarrying sector.

Crimes against other sectors

A range of other business sectors are affected by crimes, particular theft or commercial burglary include, and fraud.  It is not possible to list them all but examples include the Financial and Business Services Sector, the Construction Industry, the Leisure Industry (such as hotels, restaurants and caravan parks), the pharmaceutical industry and the energy and water sector.
