Cutting Crime: Two Years On

Report front cover

On Tuesday 12 May 2009, the Prime Minster and Home Secretary launched the crime strategy update: Cutting Crime: Two Years On. Enormous progress has been made towards the vision set out in Cutting Crime: A New Partnership 2008-11 in July 2007. Lives have been saved through tackling knives and guns; homes have been secured against burglary; and communities have been relieved of the menace of anti-social behaviour.

Since the strategy was published, we now know more about what affects the public's confidence in the agencies who fight crime - and we know that most people want to be part of the solution to crime. But we are also now facing tougher economic times than two years ago. This strategy update recognises that we face new challenges and that the public's expectations are rightly high. It sets out a refreshed and sharpened set of priorities that show how together we can keep communities safe and increase public confidence.
