Crime Reduction Strategy
Reducing burglary and property crime
| This document is published for archival/historical purposes. It will not be updated. |
Domestic burglary and other property crimes are high volume crimes and in the case of the former accounted for 19% of all recorded offences in the year April 1998 to March 1999. We are determined to cut these levels down with schemes to help protect homes in high crime areas, encouraging manufacturers to design products which are resistant to crime, imposing tougher sentences on burglars, and tackling one of the underlying causes, addiction to drugs, which is powerfully connected with property crimes.
