Crime Reduction - Helping to Reduce Crime in Your Area

A key part of our strategy is the action we are taking to deal with young offenders, who commit a significant proportion of all offences and who will go on to become adult offenders - unless their criminal behaviour is nipped in the bud.

We are focussing on speeding up youth justice; establishing new more demanding types of punishment for young offenders with a greater emphasis on reparation and victims; establishing a national Youth Justice Board to promote local and national measures to prevent young people offending, and youth offending teams to bring together all the agencies with a contribution to make; and channelling investment into early intervention projects to work with parents and children to promote the development of pre-school, disadvantaged, children.
