Crime Reduction Strategy
Helping victims and witnesses
| This document is published for archival/historical purposes. It will not be updated. |
An important thrust of our crime reduction strategy involves supporting and helping victims of crime - not only to bring about a criminal justice system in which the needs of victims and witnesses are recognised, but also to help increase confidence in the criminal justice system and encourage the development of confident communities who are willing to stand up against criminals and tackle local crime collectively. To this end we are increasing Victim Support's funding, implementing a host of measures to assist victims and witnesses when giving evidence in court, and improving services for victims and witnesses in magistrates' courts.
