Domestic Violence
Resource Manual for Health Service Professionals
| This document is published for archival/historical purposes. It will not be updated. |
The manual was issued by the Department of Health in March 2000. It was prepared by an independent health and social care analyst and reflects the input and comments of the Department, a number of Royal Colleges, a local authority and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
The manual points out that almost all domestic violence survivors will come into contact with the NHS at some time. It describes and offers advice on the role of the health service professional, on the involvement of the health service in multi-agency work, and on education and training. It also gives basic information on domestic violence, including the relevant legislation, and on useful national contacts.
The Resource Manual is available from the Department of Health website.
