Bob Ashford, Head of Prevention at the Youth Justice Board, outlined the known risk factors for young people to become involved in crime and the links between poverty and offending. He explained the case for early intervention, detailing some of the YJB targeted interventions and the resources available for work with vulnerable young people.

Working with Young People who Offend
Paul Burton, Bristol Youth Offending Team
Paul Burton explained the background to Youth Offending Teams (YOTs) and what they try to achieve working with young people. He detailed the process and the data that the YOTs have on young offenders which could help with partnership planning.
