Crime Reduction - Helping to Reduce Crime in Your Area

Home

Vehicle crime accounts for around a fifth of recorded crime, and causes immense distress and inconvenience to its victims. A lot of car crime is opportunistic and could be prevented. For example about two thirds of all vehicle crime is theft from vehicles. We know that encouraging motorists not to leave goods on display in a car can reduce the risk of these types of theft.

The Home Office is acting to reduce vehicle crime but we need the help and support of community groups. Experience has taught us that the best way of getting the messages across is to involve as many people as possible. We’re keen to support community groups to spread crime reduction messages because we know people respond best to campaigns run by and for their individual communities.

The aim of this resource pack is to provide ideas and practical tools to make it easier for community groups to get vehicle crime reduction messages across. There are simple messages you can use or adapt, downloadable pictures and logos, resources, and suggestions for running your own campaign.
