Opening Remarks

Mr Duke-Evans welcomed the participants to the conference on information sharing to reduce crime and disorder. Effective information sharing was one of the major preoccupations of his Unit at the Home Office, The Action against Crime and Disorder Unit.

He outlined the objectives of the conference:

  • To promote information sharing for the reduction of crime.

  • To engage crime reduction practitioners to play a proactive role in developing good information sharing practice.

  • To facilitate the exchange of best practice.

He hoped the day would be useful on all three counts.
