values
Journalists are constantly seeking out news
items. They judge “news values” on their potential to grab their readers’
attention, and will typically look for factors such as an adverse or highly
beneficial effect on reader’s lives, a surprising new fact or novel
approach, or an item featuring a well known face.
Your task is to grab the journalist’s attention and interest by spotting and
highlighting the values they look for in what you want to communicate.
Broadly, journalists will be looking for local examples with a human
interest element. Or, to put it another way, stories that show how the work
of your CDRP is making a difference to the lives of local people.
