How do I develop and implement a strategy

This section focuses on proactive ways in which partnerships can improve communications.

Remember, there may also be occasions when the partnership will have to react to events and face hostile questioning.  You may find it useful if your strategy includes an outline of what the partnership will and will not comment on.

Responsibility for talking to the media should be delegated to a named individual.  This will ensure consistency of message and protect less experienced members of the partnership from being placed in potentially difficult situations. (This subject is covered in more detail on the next page, in Building relationships with key stakeholders: the media.)
