*** March's bulletin begins ***

Please find enclosed this month's Crime Reduction Website monthly bulletin. We've tried to include the best of what's been added to the site this month.

Audits and Strategies

Partnerships are now required by law to carry out audits and produce strategies. For the first time, new legislation means that joint crime and drugs audits must be produced. We've updated and substantially revised our Audits & Strategies Toolkit to help you undertake the process.

Funding

Three new funding announcements this month: The BSC & BCU funds for 2004/05 have been announced. Full details, including allocations for each CDRP and BCU, can be found below. Also announced this month has been a £2.3M Gate-It scheme. The government is looking for 80 alleygating projects to sponsor with funds of £10K-£40K each.

On Track

On Track is a long term initiative aimed at children at risk of getting involved in crime. Three reports out this month have looked at the progress of the project.

New Website

Over the past 6 months we've been making substantial behind-the-scenes changes to the Crime Reduction Website. These will be going live on 30 March. Highlights include:

  • New easy-to-use navigation allowing to browse publications, research, learning and more

  • New search engine allowing you to exclude Toolkits/Strategies from results.

  • All-new News bulletin service

  • Updated, clearer design

To make sure we've been able to get everything up and running in time for the end of the month we've had to stop adding new material for 2 weeks. The site will be unavailable for around 2 hours overnight on 29/30 March as the upgrade takes effect. We hope you think the changes will have been worthwhile. As ever, your comments would be valued by the team here at the Crime Reduction Centre.
