*** April's bulletin begins ***
Welcome to April's bulletin of new material on the Crime Reduction Website.
The last month has been a hectic one here at Crime Reduction Website central and we've brought in a range of changes to the site that should make it easier for you to use. At the same time we've not forgotten that it's well-written and useful material that's the most important thing that we can bring you, so despite all the changes you'll find on the site this month we're still endeavoring to bring you a range of crime reduction materials from around the UK and overseas.
New site structure
As many of you will have noticed by now, we've revamped the structure of the site. We'd become painfully aware over recent times that it could be hard to find what you were looking for on the site - so we've been through all our existing material and looked at what's on the horizon for the next little while and made some changes that we think will make it easier to find things on the site. Material can now be found in the following categories:
News (press releases)
Ideas & Initiatives (Exchange, Funding, Awards, Toolkits)
Learning (Diary of events, Online learning, CR Glossary)
Publications & Publicity (Consultations, Journals, and guidance, etc)
Research (statistics and research reports)
Mini-sites (small sites on specific topics)

New search engine
At the same time as updating the structure of the site we've introduced a new search engine. This'll help you find what you're looking for more quickly. It'll also let you exclude Toolkit or CDRP Audit & Strategy pages that obscured some search results on the previous engine. At the same time as improving the search engine we've also changed the look of the search results to make them easier to read.
New look
As if changing the structure and the search engine wasn't enough, we've also refreshed the look of pages on the site. All of the features that were present on pages before (search, navigation, related links) are still there and in the same place - we've just jazzed up the style a little to make the pages look brand new.
Crime and communities
Neighbourhood renewal has been in the spotlight this month and we've featured several items examining crime in the community and how we can take steps to reduce it. Also published this month has been a consultation paper looking at how we can reduce social exclusion. If you’ve got ideas, then the Social Exclusion Unit would love to hear from you.
Crime and property
The has been further research published this month on burglary prevention - focussing on students and hotels - and on the disposal of stolen property.
