*** December's bulletin begins ***
This month's mixed bag of new material seems to cover everything from traditional physical security through to new breakthroughs in internet crime. We've picked out 2 themes that seem to have been prominent.
Business Crime
The Home Office has published a summary report on the findings from the 2002 Commercial Victimisation Survey, the first Government national survey of crime against manufacturers and retailers in 10 years. Tied to this were lessons learned from the Small Retailers in Deprived Areas initiative and we've added 6 new case studies to the Small Retailers' Mini-site
Domestic Violence
3 reports out this month have focussed on domestic violence. The Home Office has produced a new guide for partnerships. It develops 3 potential strands of work: on prevention and early intervention, on protection and justice, and on support for victims. The guide has been augmented by data from a CDRP questionnaire that examined the way in which partnerships are addressing this issue at the moment. Also published this month were recommendations for helping to support children who have witnessed domestic violence.
10 Second Polls
We've added a new feature to the front page of the website this month - a 10 Second Poll. One quick multiple choice question to get a flavour of what those of you working in the field are thinking. Hopefully the results should provoke some interest. In this week's not-so-serious poll we're trying to determine your favourite crime-related Christmas cracker joke. You can also view the results of previous polls.
