Guidance for partnerships

We've seen several sets of official guidance pass across our desks this month on CCTV, sexual violence and transport.

Also published, although aimed more at the public than practitioners, was guidance for householders on the domestic intruders and the law.

Crime Reduction Programme

Many of you will have been involved in programmes funded under the umbrella of the Crime Reduction Programme (CRP) between 1999 and 2002. Two reports published this month have analysed the efficiency and effectiveness of the programme.

Also published was a further study of the Reducing Burglary Initiative, itself a part of the CRP.

Statistics

January saw the publication of the latest quarterly update to crime figures, showing an overall reduction of 11%, but violent crime is up 7%

Young People & Crime

Three further reports have analysed young people's lifestyles and attitudes to crime, and the effectiveness of current methods in reducing youth reoffending.
