Crime & Disorder Act review
Findings from last year's review of CDA 1998 have been published. Among the changes proposed include developing of national standards for partnership working and intelligence-led problem-solving, annual rolling 3-year comunity safety plans, greater community consultation, broadening mainstreaming and Section 17 to cover drugs and anti-social behaviour, and dispensing with annual reports to the Home Secretary. Legislation was been put before Parliament yesterday as part of the Police & Justice Bill to enact these recommendations
Quarterly crime statistics
Statistics published this morning for the 12 months to September 2005 builds on recent trends by showing continued falls in burglary, and rises in robbery and violent crime
Standard powers for Community Support Officers (CSOs)
Following a consultation last year examining the variation in powers delegated to CSOs in different police force areas, the Government has published a proposed set of standard powers that would apply to all CSOs.
