Crime Reduction - Helping to Reduce Crime in Your Area

The National Support Framework for Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRP) and Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs)

The publication of the national support framework for partnerships coincided with the national CDRP/CSP conference on 12-13 May where the Prime Minister set out his vision for making our communities safer.

The framework builds on Delivering Safer Communities: A guide to effective partnership working published in 2007, which set out the Hallmarks of Effective Partnerships:

  • Empowered and effective leadership
  • Visible and constructive accountability
  • Intelligence-led business processes
  • Effective and responsive delivery structures
  • Engaged communities
  • Appropriate skills and knowledge

The role of CDRPs and CSPs is to represent the public’s interests and respond to their concerns. Government has devolved budgets and reduced bureaucracy and targets, to free up partnerships to focus more on what matters to their communities. Local agencies now have more tools and powers than ever before to tackle crime and anti social behaviour.

Support will be available according to local need. It will be provided from a range of sources, including the Home Office, Government Offices / the Home Office Crime Team in Wales and the Regional improvement and Efficiency Partnerships.

The new products available under the Framework include:

The national support framework will continue to grow in response to needs and building on the effective practice being delivered by partnerships around the country.

The presentations from the conference are now available as PowerPoint presentations, please click the links below to view them - warning very large files.
