Lives Not Knives Competition captures young people's creativity

Anti-knife crime campaigner Eliza Rebeiro launched a competition inviting young people in her local area of Croydon to creatively express their views of knife crime through the mediums of poetry, lyrics, stories and art. The winning entries have been published in a booklet, funded by O2: it's your community, aimed to deter young teens from getting involved in knife crime. The collection was unveiled at Croydon Town Hall earlier this month, where the young people involved presented their views on knife crime and the changes they have seen in their community over the past year. In addition to the booklet launch, the Lives Not Knives team have been visiting churches in the Croydon area to talk to parents and help them to steer their children away from getting involved in knife crime.
