5. A note on the Goldstein Awards
The Goldstein Awards are open to governmental policing agencies world wide. The UK Tilley Award Team will notify the corresponding US Goldstein Award Team of the UK regional and national finalist Tilley winners as in some previous years the Goldstein organisers have invited Tilley winners to present at the US POP Conference.
If you wish your project to be considered in the Goldstein Awards you will need to submit details according to their award conditions and application form. The Goldstein Awards close on 1st June 2009. Please see their website for full details concerning eligibility and timescales etc http://www.popcenter.org/goldstein
6. Who can enter?
In England and Wales the Tilley Awards are open to any crime reduction or community safety agency (charities must be registered). In addition UK Police Forces in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Special Police Forces e.g. British Transport Police, Ministry of Defence Police etc are also eligible to enter.
Please note that projects from these police forces will not be eligible for the regional awards as they are not covered by a Government Office area or the Home Office Crime Team.
Some police forces hold their own internal force or partnership level competitions for problem oriented projects from which the best entries are then submitted to the Tilley Awards. Police officers considering submitting an application to the Tilley Awards should check with their BCU Commander before entering the national awards to prevent duplicate entries about the same project.
There are no restrictions on the number of applications that can be submitted by individual agencies or organisations.
