Foresight Panel

Part of the DTI’s Foresight Programme, the Foresight Crime Prevention Panel is looking ahead at issues the UK needs to address now to minimize crime in the future.

The Panel’s report Turning the Corner highlights ‘drivers for the future’, in particular those likely to flow from new technology, and looks at their implications for crime.

Among its recommendations, Turning the Corner identifies a need for:

a national e-crime strategy

dedicated funding to focus science and technology on crime reduction

on-going ‘horizon scanning’ to identify and prepare for future threats

a programme to address crime at all stages of a product’s life cycle.
