
Neighbourhood Renewal
A number of strands in the Government’s National Strategy for Neighbourhood Renewal
have a bearing on reducing crimes against businesses operating in disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
In particular:
the report of Policy Action Team (PAT) 13 outlines a strategy to increase shopping
access in disadvantaged neighbourhoods. Reducing crime is a key element of this

Neighbourhood warden schemes can have a role in reducing business crime.

The Small Business Service is designed to help all small businesses
fulfil their potential, Its role includes promoting business start-ups in deprived
neighbourhoods, providing information, and signposting businesses to sources of specialist

New Deal for Communities Partnerships have a role in preventing and
reducing crime (including business and retail crime) in their areas. More details
