Neighbourhood Renewal

A number of strands in the Government’s National Strategy for Neighbourhood Renewal have a bearing on reducing crimes against businesses operating in disadvantaged neighbourhoods. In particular:

• the report of Policy Action Team (PAT) 13 outlines a strategy to increase shopping access in disadvantaged neighbourhoods. Reducing crime is a key element of this strategy. • The Small Business Service is designed to help all small businesses fulfil their potential, Its role includes promoting business start-ups in deprived neighbourhoods, providing information, and signposting businesses to sources of specialist advice. • New Deal for Communities Partnerships have a role in preventing and reducing crime (including business and retail crime) in their areas. More details are at: http://www.regeneration.detr.gov.uk/ndc.htm
