Action to tackle Homelessness

Comprehensive policy advice on managing homelessness provision, to support purchasing of homelessness services, and designing services is contained in ‘Homelessness and Drugs, Managing Incidents’ by Jill Britton and Tarun Pamneja 2000,
www.drugscope.org.uk/uploads/goodpractice/documents/homeless.pdf

This can include early intervention and advice projects aimed at users who may not yet be involved in the criminal justice system, their parents and friends.

The location of these in those communities and areas most affected by drug use, if only by satellite services from main offices, is useful in tackling local markets.

A model for local drug services can be found on the Department of Health website www.doh.gov.uk/pub/docs/doh/dmfull.pdf
