Education and diversionary work with young people

Strong, effective prevention programmes in schools, backed by work with parents and support and education to those groups of young people most at risk – truants, school excludees, young offenders etc – can have a major role in reducing the market opportunities of sellers.

In addition, work with young people should aim to tackle the image and status drug suppliers have in the eyes of young people and attempt to offer alternative role models.  A comprehensive model of how these services can be provided can be found on: - www.homeoffice.gov.uk/dpas/dyoff.pdf
