Crime Reduction Programme

The Government’s Crime Reduction Programme (is an evidence-based approach to reducing crime in England and Wales. The programme is focused on obtaining evidence on what methods employed by crime and disorder reduction partnerships and partners are the most effective in tackling crime and its causes. The knowledge gained will contribute to reversing the long-term growth rate in crime and ensure that the greatest impact for the money spent can be achieved. The Crime Reduction Programme is comprised of a series of diverse initiatives each supporting a range of projects on the ground. Projects which are successful will form the basis of future mainstream programmes; those which are not will be dropped.
