Internalising Contracting

When work is contracted it is essential that the process be internalised as much as possible:

  • There should be regular contact between the contractor and the partnership (or a dedicated officer)

  • The partnership must approve and fully understands all the processes.

  • The contractor should be contractually obliged to attend a certain number of partnership (or sub-group) meetings to present and discuss

    • Plans

    • Methodology

    • Implementation

    • Analysis

    • Findings, their relevance and application

  • The partnership must ensure the contractor is kept in touch with the development of the rest of the audit, consultation and the strategy. It is important that work meets the specific local needs, and the contractor cannot do this without active input from the partnership.

  • The contract should require a formal evaluation or feedback session from the consultants after the work and report.
