Bradford City Council

The LA has developed a GIS based intranet system which will eventually be extended onto the internet. All the data that the LA departments hold is on the intranet, including:

  • Census data
  • Social deprivation index
  • Crime data

The partnership have access to this and have been asked to provide data relating to issues of crime and disorder. The system is able to identify a particular geographical area and access the statistics relating to it. The system has links with the community initiatives project. The community groups can link directly into the intranet. The system has been used as a tool for hotspotting.

A scoping exercise is currently being undertaken with questionnaires being sent out to various partners: health authority, police, probation, etc.

  • The purpose is to identify what information is being held and in which form.
  • Scoping will also enable partners to highlight what their information requirements are.
  • The organisations are able to add to the database.
  • The system is to be developed in order to help in the forthcoming audit and also to monitor strategy. It is planned to do this online with regular updates.
