Consultation Overload
There is a need to co-ordinate agencies’ activities in order to avoid the danger
of ‘consultation overload’ - a particular risk if the precise purposes and desired
outcome are unclear. It can be beneficial to pool resources (between different
agencies and sectors and/or different LAs) especially for more expensive consultation
methods such as citizens’ panels. This process not only saves resources but encourages
cross-working, information-sharing and streamlining.
