Non-spatial Hot Spots

A common perception of hot spots is that the contributing incidents of a single hot spot are located in spatial proximity. While this is a predominant view, hot spots can be conceptualised as in dimensions other than space. Targeting vulnerable groups (young, ethnic minorities, aged) may provide an alternative strategy to the conventional spatial approach.
