Theft, Robbery and Assaults Committed Against Passengers

The following table covers responses to four categories of crime: theft from passengers; robbery; assault; and indecent assault. Apart from the potentially serious financial, psychological and physical impact on the victim, these crimes contribute to heightened perceptions of insecurity amongst passengers and a subsequent decrease in patronage and revenues.

Table 4. Summary of responses to the problem of theft, robberies and assaults committed against passengers. Source: Crimes against Passengers: Theft, Robbery and Assaults. Problem Solving Guides for Public Transport (see Appendix to this Toolkit).
