Trends in Rural Crime
The BCS shows a fall in almost all crimes measured by the survey between 1995 and
1999. Looking at violence, burglary and vehicle-related theft, there were falls in
both rural and non-rural areas, with the fall in rural areas being similar to, or
proportionally greater than, that in non-rural areas. The graphs below show the trends
for rural and non-rural areas between 1991 and 1999.
