Gender & Race Characteristics
The British Crime Surveys of 1988, 1992 and 1996 provide some information on the
offenders responsible for incidents of violence or threats, where the victim perceived
the offence to be ‘racially motivated’. The evidence indicates that offenders of
racial crimes tend to be:
white,
male
young, with some being of school age; and
females being more likely to be involved in racially motivated violence/threats
than other types of violence/threats.
