Home Secretary's Ministerial Priorities for 2001/2002

Home Secretary's Ministerial Priorities 2001/2002

http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/pcrg/poseplre.htm

The Home Secretary's Ministerial Priorities direct police authorities and forces to where they should concentrate their efforts. Annual Policing/Best Value Performance Plans should set out how these priorities are being tackled in each police authority area. The Home Secretary's Ministerial Priorities for 2001/2002 are:

  • To reduce crime and disorder in partnership with local authorities, other local agencies and the public; and

  • To increase the trust and confidence amongst minority ethnic communities

Local performance indicators for specific repeat victimisation crime prevention initiatives could be developed within the context of local aims highlighted in the Crime & Disorder Reduction Strategy. For example, one possible indicator could be: the effect on local crime levels of action to tackle repeat victimisation

If the police are interested in developing a performance indicator to assess the effectiveness of local repeat victimisation initiatives, where crime rates suggest they are most needed, formulation of crime weighted performance indicators in conjunction with those partner agencies implementing the initiatives are recommended.
