Police
Police have generic responsibilities relating to:
- the identification of victims;
- the protection of victims and support workers;
- the
protection of life;
- investigation, intelligence gathering and surveillance,
including liaison with national and international enforcement
agencies;
- gathering
all evidence, both scientific and material, to ensure there is a
fair trial (this includes the disclosure to the defence of any
evidence that may assist the accused);
-
the recording of crime (this includes rape and
assault, abduction etc)
- identification and support of vulnerable or intimidated
witnesses.
