Definitions

Some confusion exists surrounding definitions of the terms ‘information’ and ‘intelligence’:

  • information is essentially the passing of knowledge from whatever source to another

  • intelligence is the end product of a process by which that information is checked and compared with other information and is then used to inform decision making.
