Target setting checklist
There are many different ways of framing targets. Some options include:
Proportional reduce the number of theft of vehicles by 10% Relative to a reduce the rate of theft of vehicles burglary in Ward A to benchmark the borough-wide average
Relative to reduce theft of vehicles by 15% relative to expected expected background trends level
Relative to save twice the amount invested in recovering cost/value stolen vehicles on behalf of fleet operators for money
Tied to a reduce risk of theft of/from vehicles to less than 5% tolerance threshold
Where possible a named person should be responsible for delivering and reporting on each target. Could the target be met in ways other than those you intend? If so, how will you check for / guard against this? Targets that reflect different partners’ objectives can help in tracking and acknowledging contributions made by different agencies.
