European Commission AGIS Programme

Call for applications for 2004

The aim of the AGIS framework programme, adopted by the European Union on 22 July 2002, is to promote police and judicial co-operation in criminal matters and to support the efforts of practitioners to develop European policy in this area. Covering the period 2003 - 2007, the programme extends the work of Grotius, Oisin, Stop, Hippokrates and Falcone, which expired in December 2002.

The 2004 Call for Bids has been published and the deadline for submitting applications for 2006 is 27 January 2006. The budget for 2004 is €15,000,000 and the total amount for the AGIS programme for the years 2003-2007 is €65 million.

Background

The AGIS programme will finance the following activities:

  • training for professional purposes including language courses

  • conferences, seminars or meetings

  • research and study work on topics concerning co-operation in the field of crime prevention

  • dissemination of the results of the programme and information on co-operation in the field of crime prevention.

The general objectives of the programme are:

  • developing the European criminal judicial area

  • strengthening co-operation between the judicial authorities and legal practitioners

  • strengthening co-operation between law enforcement authorities

  • preventing and combating organised crime

  • partnerships and co-operation between the public/private sector

  • preventing and combating drug trafficking

  • crime prevention

  • victim assistance

  • crime proofing and threat assessment

  • comparability and circulation of information and statistics.

Applicants must be public or private bodies in the Member States of the European Union involved in crime prevention. Private individuals may not submit projects to this programme.
