Vehicle Crime Strategy (1999 – 2004) and the Vehicle Crime Reduction Action Team (VCRAT)
In September 1998, the Prime Minister announced a national target to reduce vehicle crime by 30% over the next five years. The Home Office formed the Vehicle Crime Reduction Action Team (VCRAT), a multi-agency group responsible for overseeing vehicle crime work and co-ordinating efforts to successfully achieve the 30% reduction target.
